• Log on to the web through your cable modem



• In the title bar of Internet Explorer type the following:
  
  ftp://(username)@home.metrocast.net
  
  Username - is your e-mail account name
  (i.e. janedoe@metrocast.net would type in ftp://janedoe@www.metrocast.net; in order to access her personal web space)

You will then be prompted to enter your username and password. Your username again is your e-mail username and the password is the password you use for your e-mail account. Once it connects the left side will show your computer and the right side will show your directory on our server. You will want to place files to be viewed in the public/www directory.

If you cannot use Internet Explorer to connect, you can use an FTP client, (Frontpage is not supported) to connect to the webspace.

One of the easiest FTP programs to use is WS_FTP LE and that can be found here:

The information you will need for that is as follows:

Profile Name:	MetroCast
Host Name:	home.metrocast.net
Host Type:	Auto Detect
User ID:	Your username
Password:	Your password
Account:	Leave blank

Also check on the advanced tab make sure remote port is 21 and passive transfers is checked off.

Once it connects the left side will show your computer and the right side will show your directory on our server. You will want to place files to be viewed in the public/www directory.

To share your personal web space, that you have created with other people, family and friends, please access your site in the following way. Set the browser to home.metrocast.net/~(username). You will need to name the initial page to "index.html" to avoid getting a directory listing when visitors hit your site with thier browser.
